PERSONAL ASSISTANT (CARER) TICKET POLICY FOR NEWCASTLE THEATRE ROYAL TRUST

We have set up an Access Requirement Register in order to improve our service to you at Newcastle Theatre Royal.



What is the Access Requirement Register?

We want to ensure we are able to meet the needs of all members of our audiences, whether it is looking after an assistance dog, providing sound enhancement for the hard of hearing or a free ticket to enable someone who couldn't come on their own to attend a performance with a companion.

In doing this, we are ensuring that we meet Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust's legal duty to make reasonable adjustment to enable individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities (as defined by the Equality Act of 2010) to be able to access performances at the Theatre Royal, whilst ensuring that free companion tickets are provided to people who need to be accompanied.


Why should I apply?

The information you provide for the Register will help us to find the best available seats for you quickly and easily, and having this information on file will also save time when you book in future.

Being on the Access Requirement Register could also entitle you to a free ticket for your Personal Assistant (carer) if you are a wheelchair user unable to propel yourself independently or are in receipt of particular rates of Personal Independence Payment, Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance. The Personal Assistant (carer) must be able to assist the the disabled person to access the theatre and its facilities, remaining with them to ensure their wellbeing and comfort, and be able to assist the person in leaving the building in an emergency.


 







 


Proof of eligibility required for a free Personal Assistant (Carer) ticket:

  • Award letter for Personal Independence Payment - Enhanced Rate Daily Living or Mobility Component
  • Award letter for Disability Living Allowance - Highest Rate Care Component or Higher Rate Mobility Component
  • Award letter for Disability Living Allowance - Middle Rate Daytime Care Component
  • Award letter for Attendance Allowance - Higher Rate
  • A certificate or card of Visual Impairment 
  • Wheelchair user unable to propel yourself independently

Due to COVID-19, we are only processing online applications at them moment.  Please email your application to access@theatreroyal.co.uk.

COVID-19 - changes to the scheme
We've had to look at some of our processes to the scheme as we are not in the building.  Over this period of closure, anyone on the Access register who was due to expire from March '20 onwards will now be given an extension of a year.
Temporarily  - we will not be issuing membership cards, but will still register you on the scheme if you are eligible.
