Concessions at
Theatre Royal & City Hall

For certain performances discounted tickets are available. Please note that only one discount is available per ticket and that proof of eligibility must be provided at the Box Office:

One free ticket for the companion of a disabled person who is not able to attend the event unaccompanied (restrictions apply to some performances at City Hall).

Newcastle Theatre Royal and City Hall accepts the Cinema Exhibitors Association Card (CEA) as proof of eligibility for a free companion seat. The CEA Card scheme is an independently-run card scheme which ensures disabled people receive an appropriate reasonable adjustment when visiting the cinema or theatre.

Newcastle Theatre Royal and City Hall respects the dignity, safety and privacy of all of its patrons and for this reason has chosen to adopt a policy which ensures that the personal and intimate data needed to prove eligibility for a companion ticket is handled by a registered body and no information, medical or personal, is held by Newcastle Theatre Royal.

Companion tickets can be booked in person or over the phone providing the patron has a valid CEA card at the time of the performance. Tickets will be printed upon the Box Office seeing the CEA Card.

Please note that you need to have a CEA card before you buy your theatre tickets and you will need to bring your card with you every time you book tickets. Processing of the cards by the CEA usually takes around one week; if you don’t already have one please allow yourself plenty of time to get your card before buying your theatre tickets.

Please note: there are no free companion tickets on selected City Hall Shows, and aren't available on VIP tickets

at Theatre Royal only

Please note that the following discounts and concessions apply to Theatre Royal only

Friends of the Theatre Royal
20% off for Friends of the Theatre Royal with occasional exceptions (and not on City Hall shows). For more details about becoming a Friend please click here.

Partial View Seats at Theatre Royal
£4 off partial view seats (not applicable on Gallery seats).

Standby tickets at Theatre Royal
Half price from 2 hours before the performance in selected areas at the management’s discretion. Available on most performances, not available online and subject to availability.

Child Tickets at Theatre Royal (selected shows only)
To qualify for a Child Ticket, you must be aged 16 years or younger.

Babes in Arms at Theatre Royal
For certain shows children aged two and under are welcome, on purchase of a £2 Babes in Arms ticket, and must share a seat with you (Babes in Arms tickets are not available for the Amphitheatre and Gallery as the distance from the stage and nature of these areas of the auditorium make it an inappropriate place to have small children).  Children aged three and over must have a full paid for ticket.

For all other performances, we regret children under three are not admitted to the auditorium.

Should the babe in arms become restless and cause a disturbance, the parent/guardian will be requested to leave the auditorium with the child. We reserve the right to not re-admit.  Baby changing facilities are available in the Stalls basement accessible toilet.

Booster cushions are available for small children to have a better view.
