Newcastle Theatre Royal creates moments of magic on and off stage, through an ambitious creative programme for audiences and communities across the North East. Our landmark theatre in the heart of Newcastle is a place where everyone is welcome and a space for all to enjoy.

Creative Engagement is at the heart of all that we do and we deliver a programme of work that is accessible, is of quality and of relevance. From young people to professional artists and across communities, our work focusses on developing talent and supporting wellbeing through the Performing Arts through innovative, diverse and inclusive projects.

TRY – Theatre Royal Youth

TRY is for young people to take part, learn, develop and have fun at Newcastle Theatre Royal.

We strive to increase the number of opportunities for people of all ages to engage in theatre and the arts. We are particularly keen to support the development of young people, artists and makers, investing in the sustainability of the sector and our organisation.

We know that many of the young people we work with enjoy the social aspects of Youth theatre, meeting new people and having fun. We also know that some of the young people we work with will be the people who run and perform at Theatre Royal in the future.

With this in mind, we have developed a new programme of work that will not only provide a pathway into our professional actor training company, Project A, for those who wish to pursue a Theatre career, but also continue to provide the confidence and social development support for young people who don’t want to work in Theatre.
