Casual Theatre Technicians

(Stage and Electrics Crew) 

Salary: £11.25 per hour

Hours: Zero hours (extreme flexibility required including weekend working)

Start date: Monday, 28 June (induction and training) dependant on the applicants’ availability

 

The successful applicants will be responsible to the Duty Stage Manager or Duty Chief Electrician working with the Stage or Electrics department to ensure a first class production and technical service is delivered across all aspects of the Theatre Royal’s work.

 

Essential skills and knowledge required:

  • Extremely flexible to meet the needs of the touring companies and able to work at short notice, with infrequent and irregular shifts
  • Willing to work unsociable hours and on occasion through the night to meet ‘get in’ deadlines
  • Excellent time keeping and a reliable worker
  • Natural team player, putting the needs of the Trust first
  • Health and Safety conscious with some knowledge of fire evacuation, manual handling and working at heights
  • Able to work at heights and contribute to stage set up by handling various scenery pieces within health and safety regulations
  • Has the ability to operate stage equipment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with different visiting company crews
  • Discreet and respectful of confidential theatrical operations

 

Desirable:

  • Has some knowledge and skill in the use of stage equipment, sound and lighting desks
  • Has demonstrable skills in similar roles
  • Would like to pursue personal development in a theatrical setting

 

Please note that this is a casual “zero hours” contract therefore there are no minimum contracted hours and there is no obligation on the Theatre to offer work to you, or obligation on you to accept such work as is offered.
