Exploring Nordic Film & TV Crime Drama
Join us for an afternoon tea (sandwiches and scones) in the company of our guest speaker.
Dr Jacky Collins aka Dr Noir, formerly Senior Lecturer at Northumbria University in Literature, Film & TV and Spanish Language & Culture, is currently based at Stirling University. In 2014 Jacky established the International Crime Fiction Festival that is Newcastle Noir. More recently, she has ventured into local radio, co-hosting Crime Fiction Addiction on SpiceFM, and is part of the Corylus Books team.
This talk will explore the popularity of subtitled crime dramas and consider why some series and films appear to have left a more enduring mark than others. We’ll take a look at some of the key issues addressed in these creations and debate what might be the magical ingredient.
