Box Office Manager

Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust is an independent charity that runs Newcastle Theatre Royal and, from April 2016, Newcastle City Hall.  In 2015 the Trust won the UK Theatre Award for the country’s Most Welcoming Theatre (and was the North East winner in 2016 and 17), and the Technical Theatre Award for Receiving Venue Technical Team of the Year 2016, testament to the quality of the welcome and of the service we give to everyone, on-stage and off.
Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust invites applications for a dynamic Box Office Manager to lead our high energy Box Office team with a focus on sales and fantastic customer service.

Salary: £32,265.48 per annum
Hours:  39 hours (this will include evening and weekend work plus bank holidays)
Purpose of the Post
Managing a team of approximately 32 staff, encouraging and motivating individuals to achieve and exceed their sales targets, managing the Box Office ticketing system and making a key contribution to the ongoing success of the Theatre Royal Trust.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  •  Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Box Office computerised systems such as Tessitura (or similar)
  • Able to understand IT and compliance initiatives and work closely with both the Director of Operations and IT and Tessitura Officer to ensure legislation is adhered to
  • Knowledge of working to targets and is sales driven, understanding how to get the best out of the sales team
  • An understanding of how dynamic pricing is set up on Tessitura (or similar CRM systems)
  • Ability to work alone and lead a diverse team. Leading by example is essential to the role, ensuring staff are able to seek support and advice on a diverse range of issues
  • The willingness to consistently improve staff abilities and knowledge through effective training plans, delivering training and contributing to the overall success of the business objectives on an operational level
  • Ability to deliver consistently exceptional customer service
  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to multitask many complex projects to deadlines
  • Management training and evidence of aiming to continuously improve own professional development
  • Experience of managing a Tessitura Box Office system (or similar) and show set up
  • Experience in a target or sales role and encouraging others to fulfil their own potential
  • Proven leadership skills in previous role and leading by example
  • Managed work to tight deadlines and experience of dealing with management issues
