Workshops for Schools and Colleges:

GOTHIC HORROR WORKSHOPS
 
A fresh approach to bringing classic horror stories to life through performance.

The sessions use stage lighting and sound effects to build suspense.

Workshops are available for KS4 & KS5 from week commencing Mon 18 Jan.

COST: £110 including a free Theatre Tour (max. 30 participants)
DURATION: Workshop is 1hour 30mins. Tour is 1hour.

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE WORKSHOPS
 
Ideal for students studying English literature and drama, these practical workshops focus on social status, women in society and class prejudices.

Workshops are available on the following dates:

Tue 16 Feb: 10.30 - 12pm OR 1pm - 2.30pm
Wed 17 Feb: 10.30 - 12pm OR 1pm - 2.30pm
Thu 18 Feb: 10.30 - 12pm

SET DESIGN EXHIBITION
 
In the Theatre Royal's Olivier Suite. FREE ENTRY.

Talented students from Cleveland College of Art & Design's BA (Hons) Entertainment Design Crafts Programme have been inspired by the current season at the Theatre Royal Newcastle and offer a unique insight into theatre design and planning.

Ideal for students studying GCSE, A Levels and vocational courses.

TECHNICAL THEATRE WORKSHOPS
 
An introduction to microphone and sound effects that will help you make informed choices for your production.
The workshop includes learning how to fit radio mics on to performers, microphone techniques and sound effects.
Led by a professional sound engineer these workshops are ideal for students who want to perform on stage or work backstage.

THEATRE ROYAL TOURS
 
PRIMARY TOURS
These tours are educational and fun. Groups will go backstage, learn about the Heritage of the Theatre, journey under the stage, seek out the ghost and see where the time capsule is buried!

SECONDARY AND FE TOURS
The tour takes a look at the auditorium, backstage, the Heritage of the Theatre, and other unseen parts of the building. Suitable for KS3/4/5 the tour can be designed to suit curriculum needs or to introduce students to a working theatre.

COST: £40 for a group of 30 people maximum.
DURATION: Tours last for approximately one hour.

TRY 2010 PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL
 
TRY is the Theatre Royal's Youth Performance Festival.

The week offers a variety of skills workshops each morning, devising for performance each afternoon and performances by participants and professional companies in the evenings. All of the activities are delivered by professional practitioners.

Do you know any drama groups that work with young people aged 16 - 25yrs? Do they like to perform to audiences? Then contact us as we would like to hear from groups who would be keen to perform as part of the TRY Festival.
