THE THEATRE ROYAL’S LEARNING PROGRAMME WORKS WITH PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS TO EXTEND THEIR EXPERIENCE OF THEATRE-GOING THROUGH VARIOUS COURSES, PROJECTS, WORKSHOPS, TOURS, TALKS AND EVENTS.
The Learning Space
Opened in September 2007, the Learning Space is a dedicated home for the Theatre Royal’s Learning Programme, providing opportunities for participation, training and creative development with a variety of user groups.
The Learning Programme
The Learning Programme offers a broad range of activities giving a variety
of access points for a life-long journey through the arts. The core Programme
strands include work with Schools and Colleges, Teachers, Lifelong Learning
and Artists.
The Learning Programme aims to:
| • | Work with key user groups who associate with the Theatre Royal |
| • | Provide a specialist resource for training in the region |
| • | Facilitate learning opportunities from visiting theatre and dance companies |
| • | Deliver work of artistic excellence |
| • | Develop new projects and partnerships |
| • | Actively encourage individuals and groups who wouldn’t otherwise engage in cultural or creative activity to access the arts |
| • | Extend audiences’ understanding of the performances on stage |
| • | Provide learning resources, linked to the curriculum |
| • | Give insight into the world of professional theatre and provide opportunities to work with professional artists |
